1st Prize
- Bob Clare
Photography Winners were presented with their prizes on Friday 4th
September 2009 at the end of a 20 week Digital Photography course
organised by Barry Underdown, Lead Union Learning representative for
the CWU Bournemouth and Dorset Amalgamated Branch in conjunction with
Bournemouth Adult Learning Co-ordinated by Ms Jo Sharpe.
Barry and Jo both
agreed they were very impressed by the professional level of the
photographs and both paid tribute to Richard Jeffrey tutor for the
course.
Jo presented prizes in
two categories (open and Place) and Mrs Alex Luckman (Manager,
Dorset Mail Centre) presented the 3 prizes in the communications
category.
The four judges were
all very impressed by all 44 entries
Bob Clare who won 1st
prize in the Place Theme with his evocative shot of a Snowy Forest
Road was so moved by his award he immediately donated his prize to
Barnardo’s Royal Mails currently supported charity.
Prizes (vouchers) for
this and the open theme where donated by the Branch, Union Learn
Southwest and Royal Mail who sponsored the prizes for the
communication section.
All Pictures in the
competition were displayed at the Mail Centre and caused much debate
to each pictures merit by all who have looked at them.
Barry Underdown said
“The Courses were to promote Learning at the Learning Centre and to
help learners as the course included Numeracy up to Level Two within
it”.
He is now organising more courses in Digital Photography as well
as new courses in Basic Computing and Spanish at The 1st Class
Learning Centre and at the joint CWU / Royal Mail learning centre
just opened at Dorchester Local Delivery Office, these again being
provided by Bournemouth Adult Learning.
